Identity verification with Companies House will become mandatory in the autumn of 2025
No ID = No filing
This new requirement is part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, designed to make the UK business register more secure and to help prevent fraud.
Grab your passport or driving licence and get verified early.
You can verify your identity one of three ways:
- online using GOV.UK One Login – if you have the identity documents or information required. Use this link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/verify-your-identity-for-companies-house
- in person at selected Post Offices – you must live in the UK and will need to use the ‘Verify your identity for Companies House’ service first to find out if you can verify this way.
- using an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) – for example, an accountant or solicitor who has registered as a Companies House authorised agent (you’ll need to provide suitable identity documents).
